As we dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of talent and pure luck. The aim is to shift your pieces carefully around the game board to your inner board while at the same time your opposing player moves their chips toward their home board in the opposing direction. With competing player pieces shifting in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the need for particular tactics at specific times. Here are the 2 final Backgammon strategies to complete your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the goal of the blocking tactic is to hamper the opponents ability to shift her checkers, the Priming Game strategy is to completely block any activity of the opposing player by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s chips will either get bumped, or result a damaged position if she ever tries to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be built anyplace between point 2 and point 11 in your board. Once you have successfully assembled the prime to block the movement of the competitor, the opponent does not even get to toss the dice, and you shift your checkers and roll the dice again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The aims of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game tactic are similar – to harm your competitor’s positions hoping to boost your odds of succeeding, but the Back Game plan utilizes different techniques to do that. The Back Game strategy is often employed when you’re far behind your competitor. To compete in Backgammon with this technique, you have to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This plan is more complex than others to employ in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your checkers and how the pieces are relocated is partially the outcome of the dice roll.
