As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a game of skill and luck. The goal is to move your checkers safely around the game board to your inside board while at the same time your opposing player shifts their checkers toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With competing player pieces heading in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for particular strategies at specific instances. Here are the last two Backgammon strategies to round out your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the goal of the blocking strategy is to slow down the opponent to shift their checkers, the Priming Game tactic is to completely stop any movement of the opposing player by constructing a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s chips will either get bumped, or result a damaged position if he/she ever attempts to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anyplace between point 2 and point eleven in your half of the board. Once you have successfully built the prime to stop the movement of your opponent, the competitor does not even get to toss the dice, that means you shift your checkers and toss the dice again. You will win the game for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The aims of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game tactic are very similar – to harm your opponent’s positions hoping to improve your chances of winning, however the Back Game strategy utilizes different tactics to achieve that. The Back Game plan is often employed when you are far behind your competitor. To compete in Backgammon with this plan, you need to control 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This plan is more challenging than others to employ in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your pieces and how the chips are moved is partly the result of the dice roll.
