The Basics of Backgammon Strategies – Part One
August 14th, 2018 by Kaitlynn

The goal of a Backgammon match is to move your checkers around the Backgammon board and bear those pieces from the game board faster than your challenger who works harder to achieve the same buthowever they move in the opposite direction. Succeeding in a match in Backgammon needsrequires both tactics and good luck. Just how far you will be able to move your checkers is left to the numbers from tossing the dice, and how you shift your chips are determined by your overall gambling strategies. Players use differing strategies in the differing stages of a match based on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Plan

The aim of the Running Game strategy is to entice all your pieces into your home board and get them off as quickly as you could. This strategy concentrates on the speed of advancing your checkers with absolutely no efforts to hit or block your opponent’s checkers. The ideal scenario to use this plan is when you think you can move your own pieces faster than the opposition does: when 1) you have a fewer chips on the game board; 2) all your pieces have past your competitor’s checkers; or 3) the opposing player does not employ the hitting or blocking technique.

The Blocking Game Tactic

The primary aim of the blocking tactic, by the name, is to block your competitor’s pieces, temporarily, not fretting about shifting your pieces quickly. As soon as you have established the blockade for your opponent’s movement with a few chips, you can shift your other pieces rapidly off the board. The player really should also have an apparent strategy when to extract and shift the checkers that you employed for the blockade. The game becomes intriguing when your competitor utilizes the same blocking technique.
