As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a game of skill and luck. The goal is to move your checkers carefully around the board to your inside board and at the same time your opposition shifts their pieces toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With opposing player checkers heading in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for particular tactics at particular times. Here are the last two Backgammon plans to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the aim of the blocking strategy is to slow down the opponent to move his pieces, the Priming Game tactic is to completely block any activity of the opposing player by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s pieces will either get hit, or end up in a damaged position if he at all tries to leave the wall. The ambush of the prime can be established anyplace between point 2 and point 11 in your board. As soon as you have successfully constructed the prime to block the activity of the competitor, the opponent does not even get a chance to roll the dice, and you shift your chips and toss the dice again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Tactic

The aims of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game tactic are very similar – to hinder your opponent’s positions in hope to better your odds of succeeding, however the Back Game technique relies on alternate techniques to achieve that. The Back Game plan is generally employed when you are far behind your opponent. To play Backgammon with this tactic, you need to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This strategy is more difficult than others to employ in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your chips and how the checkers are relocated is partially the result of the dice roll.
