The Essential Facts of Backgammon Tactics – Part 2
June 27th, 2020 by Kaitlynn

As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a game of talent and luck. The aim is to shift your checkers safely around the board to your inside board and at the same time your opposition moves their pieces toward their inside board in the opposite direction. With competing player checkers heading in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the need for particular tactics at particular instances. Here are the last 2 Backgammon strategies to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Tactic

If the goal of the blocking plan is to slow down the opponent to shift his chips, the Priming Game tactic is to completely barricade any activity of the opposing player by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s pieces will either get hit, or result a battered position if he/she at all attempts to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be built anywhere between point 2 and point eleven in your board. After you have successfully built the prime to prevent the activity of the opponent, the competitor doesn’t even get to roll the dice, that means you shift your checkers and roll the dice yet again. You’ll be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Plan

The aims of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game tactic are similar – to hinder your opponent’s positions with hope to improve your odds of succeeding, but the Back Game plan utilizes different tactics to achieve that. The Back Game technique is generally employed when you’re far behind your competitor. To participate in Backgammon with this plan, you need to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This plan is more challenging than others to play in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your pieces and how the pieces are relocated is partly the outcome of the dice toss.
