The Essential Facts of Backgammon Strategies – Part 1
April 17th, 2022 by Kaitlynn

The aim of a Backgammon game is to move your pieces around the game board and bear those pieces off the board quicker than your challenger who works harder to do the same buthowever they move in the opposing direction. Succeeding in a game of Backgammon needsrequires both tactics and luck. How far you will be able to move your checkers is left to the numbers from tossing the dice, and just how you move your checkers are determined by your overall playing strategies. Players use different strategies in the differing parts of a match dependent on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Strategy

The aim of the Running Game tactic is to lure all your chips into your home board and get them off as quick as you can. This strategy concentrates on the speed of advancing your checkers with little or no efforts to hit or stop your competitor’s checkers. The ideal time to employ this tactic is when you believe you might be able to shift your own pieces quicker than the opposition does: when 1) you have less chips on the game board; 2) all your chips have past your competitor’s chips; or 3) your opposing player doesn’t use the hitting or blocking strategy.

The Blocking Game Tactic

The main aim of the blocking technique, by the title, is to block the competitor’s chips, temporarily, while not worrying about moving your pieces quickly. As soon as you have established the blockage for your opponent’s movement with a couple of chips, you can shift your other chips swiftly from the board. The player really should also have an apparent strategy when to extract and move the checkers that you used for blocking. The game becomes interesting when the opposition uses the same blocking strategy.
