The Essential Basics of Backgammon Game Plans – Part Two
August 30th, 2022 by Kaitlynn

As we dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a game of talent and luck. The aim is to move your pieces carefully around the game board to your inside board and at the same time your opponent moves their chips toward their inner board in the opposing direction. With competing player chips moving in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for specific strategies at particular times. Here are the two final Backgammon tactics to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the goal of the blocking tactic is to slow down the opponent to move his checkers, the Priming Game strategy is to absolutely stop any movement of the opponent by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s checkers will either get bumped, or result a battered position if he/she ever attempts to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be established anyplace between point 2 and point eleven in your game board. Once you’ve successfully built the prime to stop the activity of the competitor, the competitor does not even get to roll the dice, that means you shift your checkers and toss the dice yet again. You’ll be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Strategy

The aims of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game strategy are very similar – to hinder your opponent’s positions in hope to better your chances of succeeding, however the Back Game technique uses alternate techniques to do that. The Back Game plan is frequently utilized when you’re far behind your opponent. To compete in Backgammon with this strategy, you have to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This technique is more complex than others to employ in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your chips and how the pieces are relocated is partially the result of the dice toss.
