As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and good luck. The aim is to move your chips carefully around the board to your inner board while at the same time your opposition moves their chips toward their inner board in the opposing direction. With competing player checkers shifting in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the need for specific strategies at particular times. Here are the 2 final Backgammon techniques to finish off your game.
The Priming Game Plan
If the purpose of the blocking tactic is to hamper the opponents ability to move their pieces, the Priming Game strategy is to absolutely block any movement of the opposing player by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s chips will either get bumped, or result a damaged position if she ever tries to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be established anywhere between point 2 and point eleven in your half of the board. After you have successfully assembled the prime to block the movement of your competitor, the opponent does not even get to roll the dice, that means you move your pieces and roll the dice again. You will win the game for sure.
The Back Game Tactic
The objectives of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game tactic are very similar – to hurt your opponent’s positions with hope to improve your odds of succeeding, but the Back Game technique utilizes alternate tactics to do that. The Back Game plan is frequently used when you are far behind your competitor. To compete in Backgammon with this tactic, you have to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This technique is more complex than others to use in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your checkers and how the pieces are moved is partially the result of the dice roll.
