The Essential Details of Backgammon Strategies – Part 2
January 4th, 2024 by Kaitlynn

As we dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and good luck. The aim is to shift your pieces carefully around the board to your home board while at the same time your opponent moves their pieces toward their inner board in the opposing direction. With opposing player chips moving in opposing directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for specific techniques at particular instances. Here are the last two Backgammon plans to complete your game.

The Priming Game Tactic

If the aim of the blocking tactic is to hamper the opponents ability to shift their chips, the Priming Game strategy is to completely block any movement of the opponent by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s chips will either get bumped, or result a damaged position if she ever attempts to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be established anyplace between point 2 and point 11 in your game board. As soon as you have successfully constructed the prime to block the activity of your competitor, your competitor doesn’t even get a chance to roll the dice, that means you shift your chips and toss the dice yet again. You will win the game for sure.

The Back Game Strategy

The objectives of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game technique are similar – to hinder your competitor’s positions with hope to improve your odds of succeeding, but the Back Game strategy utilizes seperate tactics to achieve that. The Back Game strategy is generally used when you are far behind your competitor. To play Backgammon with this tactic, you need to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This strategy is more complex than others to play in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your chips and how the pieces are moved is partly the result of the dice roll.
