As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and good luck. The goal is to move your pieces safely around the game board to your inside board and at the same time your opponent shifts their chips toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With opposing player chips shifting in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for specific strategies at specific times. Here are the last two Backgammon tactics to complete your game.
The Priming Game Strategy
If the aim of the blocking plan is to slow down the opponent to shift his chips, the Priming Game plan is to completely stop any movement of the opponent by constructing a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s pieces will either get hit, or end up in a battered position if she at all tries to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anyplace between point two and point 11 in your board. Once you’ve successfully constructed the prime to prevent the activity of your competitor, your opponent doesn’t even get to roll the dice, that means you shift your chips and toss the dice again. You will be a winner for sure.
The Back Game Tactic
The objectives of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game technique are very similar – to hurt your competitor’s positions hoping to better your odds of winning, however the Back Game plan utilizes seperate tactics to achieve that. The Back Game strategy is often used when you are far behind your opponent. To participate in Backgammon with this strategy, you have to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This strategy is more challenging than others to play in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your chips and how the checkers are relocated is partially the result of the dice roll.
