The Essential Facts of Backgammon Tactics – Part One
April 12th, 2024 by Kaitlynn

The aim of a Backgammon game is to shift your pieces around the Backgammon board and pull those pieces from the board quicker than your opposing player who works just as hard to achieve the same buthowever they move in the opposite direction. Winning a match in Backgammon needsrequires both tactics and luck. Just how far you will be able to shift your pieces is up to the numbers from rolling a pair of dice, and how you shift your chips are determined by your overall gambling techniques. Players use differing strategies in the different stages of a game based on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Tactic

The goal of the Running Game technique is to entice all your chips into your inside board and pull them off as fast as you could. This strategy focuses on the pace of advancing your pieces with no efforts to hit or barricade your opponent’s pieces. The ideal time to use this strategy is when you believe you can shift your own pieces a lot faster than the opposition does: when 1) you have less checkers on the game board; 2) all your checkers have moved beyond your opponent’s checkers; or 3) the opposing player doesn’t use the hitting or blocking strategy.

The Blocking Game Plan

The primary aim of the blocking plan, by the title, is to block the opponent’s pieces, temporarily, while not fretting about shifting your pieces quickly. Once you’ve established the barrier for your opponent’s movement with a couple of chips, you can shift your other checkers rapidly from the game board. You should also have an apparent plan when to back off and move the pieces that you utilized for blocking. The game becomes interesting when your competitor uses the same blocking strategy.
