The Essential Details of Backgammon Strategies – Part One
April 30th, 2024 by Kaitlynn

The goal of a Backgammon match is to move your checkers around the Backgammon board and pull them off the game board faster than your opponent who works harder to achieve the same buthowever they move in the opposite direction. Succeeding in a round in Backgammon needsrequires both strategy and fortune. How far you will be able to move your checkers is up to the numbers from rolling a pair of dice, and the way you move your chips are determined by your overall playing techniques. Enthusiasts use differing techniques in the different stages of a game based on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Plan

The goal of the Running Game strategy is to lure all your chips into your home board and bear them off as fast as you can. This plan concentrates on the pace of shifting your pieces with no time spent to hit or block your competitor’s chips. The ideal scenario to employ this strategy is when you believe you can move your own checkers quicker than your opposing player does: when 1) you have a fewer chips on the game board; 2) all your chips have moved beyond your competitor’s pieces; or 3) the opposing player doesn’t employ the hitting or blocking plan.

The Blocking Game Plan

The main aim of the blocking plan, by its title, is to stop the competitor’s pieces, temporarily, not fretting about shifting your checkers quickly. Once you have established the blockade for your competitor’s movement with a couple of chips, you can move your other chips quickly from the game board. You will need to also have a clear plan when to extract and move the checkers that you used for blocking. The game becomes intriguing when the competitor uses the same blocking strategy.
