The Essential Basics of Backgammon Game Plans – Part 2
September 27th, 2024 by Kaitlynn

As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and luck. The goal is to move your chips carefully around the board to your home board and at the same time your opposing player shifts their chips toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With opposing player chips moving in opposing directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for specific tactics at particular times. Here are the last 2 Backgammon strategies to complete your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the aim of the blocking tactic is to slow down the opponent to shift their pieces, the Priming Game strategy is to absolutely block any movement of the opponent by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s pieces will either get bumped, or result a battered position if he ever tries to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be built anywhere between point 2 and point 11 in your half of the board. Once you’ve successfully built the prime to block the movement of the competitor, your opponent doesn’t even get to toss the dice, and you move your checkers and roll the dice again. You will win the game for sure.

The Back Game Plan

The objectives of the Back Game technique and the Blocking Game plan are very similar – to harm your opponent’s positions hoping to boost your chances of succeeding, however the Back Game tactic utilizes different techniques to achieve that. The Back Game strategy is generally utilized when you’re far behind your opponent. To play Backgammon with this strategy, you need to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This tactic is more challenging than others to play in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your checkers and how the pieces are moved is partly the result of the dice toss.
